Announcing the winners of the photography competition „Sign of the Times“

In May-July, 2023, project „PhotoKICK“ invited citizens rom Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Spain and Slovenia, who enjoy photography and taking pictures, to participate in the international documentary photography competition „Sign of the Times“ and to submit photos that reflect our presence in the 21st century.

On September 30, 2023, three first-place winners were announced in two categories – „Sign of the Times“ (traditional photography) and „Imagined cities“ (photos created with the help of artificial intelligence) during the award ceremony in Kuldiga’s art and education space „Needle Factory“, Latvia.

Winners in the „Sign of the Times“ category:

1st place. „Smokers“ by Istvan Toth-Piusz (Hungary);

2nd place. „Sign of the Times“ by Dace Laukmane (Latvia);

3rd place. „Nobody sees nothing“ by Attila Petrovics (Hungary).

Winners in the „Imagined cities“ category:

1st place. „City Scheme“ by Dagnija Grundberga (Latvia);

2nd place. „Memories of Bees“ by Maija Demitere (Latvia);

3rd place. “Urban Hell” by József Schell (Hungary).

The photos of the competition were evaluated by members of jury‘s from Hungary, Spain, Latvia, Slovenia and Lithuania.
