Kuldiga 1

On November 21-22, 2022, project team members from Klaipėda County Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library visited Kuldiga (Latvia) and met with project partners – Kuldiga art and technology center. The meeting was attended by library director Laura Juchnevič, project manager Viktorija Žilinskaitė, head librarian Danguolė Ruškienė and mentor Larysa Sydorenko. Here are a few moments from our visit.

The library team visited Kuldiga Digital Innovation Hub (KDIH), where Artis Gustovskis, the director of Kuldiga art and technology center, together with project manager Toms Girvaitis, organized an interesting tour of this modern space, established in a former Needle factory and opened in September 2022. Now this space functions as a hub for innovators and students. Project partners learned about the services, facilities and history of this space.

After that, partners from Kuldiga art and technology center presented their work and experiences in different areas – non-formal education for adults and children, their work as experts on innovations in the municipality, organized events and trainings. In addition, the partners talked about working with digital photos, photography festivals and competitions, exhibitions, work of the local photo club, development of interactive apps, creation of online video podcasts and trainings, 3D modeling school, organizing the International Art Festival, the creation of street art murals in Kuldiga’s public spaces, etc.

Also, partners discussed the „PhotoKick“ project progress, as well as about next Latvian-Lithuanian Program Call in Autumn ‘2023, prepared for the Multiplier Event in Kuldiga. After that, the project team visited Kuldiga main library and art gallery and went on a tour around the magical Kuldiga UNESCO Old town.

On the 2nd meeting day, partners had discussions about other future „PhotoKICK“ project cooperation ideas, discussing the important role of street art murals in the educational process, and visited Kuldiga Dark Story Museum and Kuldiga History Museum.

At the end of the meeting, the partners agreed to maintain effective communication for successful project implementation. We look forward to further developing planned project activities and continue our cooperation to achieve high quality project results and goals.
